A surge in interest for online advertising is evident in recent figures released by Roy Morgan Research, with 1.6 million Australians aged 14 and over stating that they have clicked on online advertisments in the past four-week period.
During the four weeks to June 2015, 1.3 million of those clicks were via computers, with the rest coming from handheld devices.
While the latest statistics are a 50% growth on figures overall from 2011, the response shown from desktops and laptops is also increasing as it takes up 25% of this market. Not surprisingly, the biggest rise in interest for clicking on online advertising was shown by mobile users, at six times more click-through rates since 2011.
According to Tim Martin, general manager of media at Roy Morgan Research, these figures are a testament to the popularity of pay per click advertising.
He says that about 1 in 12 Australians are now clicking on at least one online ad during an average four weeks, with about a fifth of those using a range of devices to perform their searches.
As digital advertising spreads its reach into the homes and hands of more and more Australians, your business needs to be part of the online phenomenon in order to stay ahead of your competition.
